8 Reality TV Shows I Can’t Help But Get Addicted to Every Year

Reality television is a bit like marmite – you either love it, or hate it. For me, I can’t get enough of it. There’s nothing worse than having no Saturday night TV in between reality series finishing and starting. What am I supposed to watch whilst I munch on my takeaway and gobble some sweeties?! I’ve slipped in and out of pretty much every reality series out there, but there are eight in particular I watch every year without fail…

The Apprentice

I do hope that the theme tune to The Apprentice is now running through your head. Because it is mine. Every year Lord Sugar comes up with some pretty excellent tasks for some (apparently) intelligent candidates, and we just get to sit back and watch the drama unfold as they fight for a partnership. And there’s always that one guy that is just a complete dick, and so provides great entertinment when he gets shot down in the boardroom.

Big Brother

New series tonight, oh yes! Who thought watching a bunch of strangers locked in a house could be so bloody entertaining? Because they weren’t wrong. With ridiculous tasks, plenty of bitching, and a lack of food and cigarettes, it doesn’t take long for things to get heated and an argument to break out, making for a good night of TV for us at home.

Biggest Loser

Whilst I never got into the British version of The Biggest Loser, I’ve watched every episode of the original American series, and it remains one of my favourite TV shows without a doubt. Watching the contestants go though their journey can get pretty emotional (yes, I cry quite a lot whilst watching it) and is pretty darn motivating. If you’ve never watched them before, get online and find an old season. You’ll soon be hooked!

Britain’s Got Talent

Did anyone else watch this years BGT and find it hard to believe it’s been 10 years? I was 13 when Paul Potts won the first ever series, really?! Madness! With everything from comedians to singers, magicians to animal acts, dancers to death defying stunts, BGT really does have something for everyone. And this year a magician (and a pretty darn handsome one at that) won, and I couldn’t have been happier!
Celebrity Big Brother
After throwing a bunch of regular strangers into a house together, Big Brother naturally had to follow this with a celebrity version of the show, and it’s just as outrageous, if not more so! Granted, I don’t recognise half the celebs that go in there, but I love seeing how my opinions change of the ones I do.

Love Island

Ah, we’re a week into this years Love Island and I am so glad to see it back on my TV. I never watched the original celebrity version, but I got hooked on the first regular series last year and have patiently awaited its return. A few fitties, plenty of banter and tonnes of drama – what more could you want? Plus seeing them all chilling in the villa gives me major holiday vibes.
The Voice
The Voice is making a move over to ITV for its next series and I can’t wait to see how it might change. I’m just praying they keep will.i.am. They have to, right? He’s, like, amazing. Please keep him on my TV!The X-Factor
I’ve sat religiously through every X-Factor series, and after going through a fair few different judging panels, I am so excited to have some of the old favourites back, along with the original room auditions. Plus, our very own Dermot is coming back too. Perfection. “Your Saturday night starts right here!

So there you have it. Eight reality TV shows I can’t help but watch every single year. What’s even better is I’ll soon be watching them on my very own TV from my very own sofa in my first house with my boyfriend. We’ve been eyeing up this Panasonic UHD 4K TV and it really is a dream television. Time to start putting pennies in the piggy bank!

Do you like reality TV? Which shows can’t you help watching every year?
