Saying goodbye to 2017 – the best and worst year of my life – and welcoming 2018 with open …

It’s an exclamation you’ve probably heard a million times in the past few weeks, but one that holds true – this year has just flown by! (You may have heard this in alternative formats such as, “Where has this year gone?!” or “It doesn’t seem 5 minutes since last Christmas!“) I spent my 2017 in the vibrant City of Culture – celebrations were in place from the second the clock hit 00:00 on January 1st, hotels in Hull found themselves fully booked as people flocked from around the country, and the year was full of colour and culture, music and…

Six things to help cure airport boredom

We’ve all been there. You’ve packed your suitcase with all of your holiday essentials, had a long journey to the airport, managed to find an elusive car parking space, checked-in, had a browse of the World Duty Free goodies (and maybe even a little pamper), and then… You’re bored. You just want your flight to hurry up and whisk you away to somewhere new. Or maybe home to your own bed if it’s a case of you coming to the end of a trip. Suddenly time is moving very s-l-o-w-l-y. Multiply this feeling by ten if you’re flight is delayed…

Walking my worries and woes away

Last month, I had a particularly crap week. You know, just one of those weeks where you can’t put your finger on exactly what it is, but everything gets under your skin, or pisses you off, or even makes you wanna cry, just because? And as I sat at home on my own, my leg bouncing away as it does when my brain is overthinking everything, I decided to get off the sofa and just move. So, with that, I grabbed my boots, stuck my earphones in, and left the house. And I walked. Just walked and walked. And walked.…

I love zombies… but could I actually survive a zombie apocalypse?

Is the zombie apocalypse looming? Highly unlikely. But being a big ol’ zombie fan and a bit of a geek, it’s something that I’ve subconsciously prepared for in the back of my mind. Gotta have some sort of plan, right? I watch The Walking Dead religiously (and attend Walker Stalker Con every year, of course), have played zombie games back since the original Resident Evil, and get a sick thrill from any movie that involves undead tearing apart the living with their icky undead teeth. Yummy, right? But despite my love of all things zombie, would I actually make it…

8 things I love about being single (for now, at least!)

After meeting my first boyfriend when I was just 17, and spending almost seven years with him, single life hit me pretty hard when he split up with me earlier this year. I’d never been a single adult, let alone a single adult who’d just started her career, had a mortgage to pay and had known nothing but one guy for the past seven years. Talk about bad timing, right? But I soon managed to spin my situation into something positive. I considered it an adventure, a new chapter, an opportunity for me to be selfish for a while. And…

That time I was on stage with Sigala

I’ve often said that money is best spent on experiences, so you know you’ve hit the jackpot when the job that earns you that money is what ends up giving you the experiences. For those of you that don’t know, I work in digital marketing at the University of Hull, and I bloody love my job. My team are seriously the best bunch of people, I genuinely enjoy the day to day stuff, and my overtime in the past few months included meeting Nick Grimshaw, going to an adults night in a play area and attending Big Weekend. Not the…

Remembering to enjoy the adventure

Despite always loving holidays and weekend trips, I’ve not always been a travel blogger. In fact, my blog started off as a space for me to review books and beauty products. Soon I found myself thinking, however, that if I love travelling so much, why wasn’t I documenting that instead?  It’s so much easier to write about something you’re really, truly passionate about, right? Though something hit me whilst in Paris with my mum earlier this year. It was my mum’s first time there, and yet I found myself stressing over getting the perfect picture rather than showing her the…

Looking back at March 2017: Zombies, Cats, France and Happiness

Bad blogger alert! My March round up is coming to you 13 days into April. A tad late, I know, but March was a busy one for me and I haven’t had a free weekend for about 10 weeks now. Busy, busy bee. 🐝 As you may know, my boyfriend of almost 7 years broke up with me in February, and I was devastated. When March rolled around, I made sure to plan lots of fun things to keep me happy. And so, March had a cracking start for me. The first day of it was spent having a fun…

Celebrities and Cosplay at #WSCLondon: Walker Stalker Con 2017

Last weekend, I spent my time standing in queues, spending lots of money, getting attacked by zombies, complimenting cosplayers and meeting the cast of The Walking Dead. Yes. My brother and I had our second visit to Walker Stalker Con London. The popular convention was here on the 4th and 5th of March and was held in the spacious Olympia London. It’s the only Walker Stalker Con currently to be held outside of the US, and so thousands of people gathered from not just Britain, but all over Europe, for lots of undead excitement. Needless to say, the event was…
