Look at lists of places you need to visit before you die and you’ll most likely find Paris sitting on there somewhere. A capital full of history, culture and beautiful scenery, this city of love has a certain je ne sais quoi whether you are visiting for your first, second or one hundredth time.
Having played tourist in Paris a number of times, I’m still not bored of visiting, and already can’t wait to head back to experience everything I love about the wonderful city all over again. I was lucky enough to visit Paris earlier this year after a competiton win (still can’t believe how lucky I am!), and now that Vente-Privee are running a competiton of their own for a VIP luxury Parisian weekend for two, I’ve promptly entered (don’t worry, I’ll tell you how to enter at the end of the post!) and had a think about why exactly I’m so keen to go back to Paris…
To see the sights all over again
Quite naturally, when visiting Paris, top of your list of things to do should be sightseeing. Everything you see is just so darn beautiful that you simply can’t visit Paris without taking a walk around to photograph the numerous buildings, monuments and structures. I have a soft spot in my heart for the Notre Dame, and the iconic Eiffel Tower takes my breath away every time I see it. Pictures of this fabulous structure cannot do it’s magnificence justice. Team these with a visit to the Sacre-Coeur, the Louvre, the Sainte Chapelle and the Arc de Triomphe, and you’ve covered the must-sees of Paris. (Though I’m sure there are many more I need to discover, too!)
To do lots and lots of shopping
Famous for it’s style and sophistication, Paris boasts an abundance of shops and department stores and, of course, a number of Sephoras too, ladies. There is a slight chance (read: 100% chance) that my last trip to Paris saw me spending around three hours in Sephora with goo-goo eyes. Even without money to spend (though I’m waiting for the day I’m rich enough to shop in a Parisian Michael Kors), a stroll down the Champs-Elysees for a bit of window shopping is an incredible way to pass the time, and it’s a necessity, of course, the take a look around all of the souvenir shops – it would be a crime not to right?
To enjoy the food and drink
Let me tell you: a croissant will never taste better than it does in Paris. Ask me why and I can’t tell you, but just trust me on this one. In between ogling the beautiful sights and popping in and out of glittering stores, there’s nothing better than stopping for a hot cup of cocoa on the streets or taking a rest in a nearby patisserie to indulge in a particularly creamy slice of cake. With plenty of cute cafes and stylish restaurants, I’ve been spoilt for choice when dining in Paris.
To delight in the hustle and bustle of the city
There’s something so special about being in the hustle and bustle of Paris. People from all over the world are strolling around, doing shopping, taking photos, oozing style, and it feels a little bit like you’re in the middle of a movie. Being a fan of people watching, I’d love to go back to Paris and just spend an afternoon watching the world go by from the comfort of a cosy coat whilst sat on a park bench with a hot chocolate. Sounds like heaven, right?
To finally go to Disneyland
Even after visiting Paris a number times, I’ve not actually yet taken out the time to visit Disneyland. Terrible, I know! I once experienced Disneyland when I was younger on a school trip, but now I want to go back and truly experience it with the freedom to roam wherever I want and the freedom to become as childish as I want. And yes, I want a photograph with Donald Duck quite depserately.
To put my new camera to good use
Just before my trip to Cyprus this year, I invested in a new camera and I’m so pleased with how the photos turned out, and with Paris being the beautiful place it is, I’m determined to head back and capture some amazing shots. From the sights to coffees to nature to macarons, I want to photograph everything (and end up with an amazing Instagram feed, obviously)!
Okay, so now I should probably have a look for some cheap weekend deals to Paris ASAP. I’m sure I can drag my boyfriend along. But first, let me share this fabulous competition with you!
