Those tier 2 restrictions in Liverpool don’t have to put a stop to your dating life. Why not try one of these tier-adhering date ideas…?
This post was sponsored by Merseyside Dating Site but all words are my own!
A news-consuming global pandemic and a confusing tiered system sure can make navigating the dating world a touch more difficult, right? No longer is it as simple as popping down the pub for a little while, heading out and about for a fancy meal, or simply indulging in a fun activity with your date.
But the true serial-daters (hello, me) don’t let that stop them. If we want to dabble in a bit of Merseyside dating, we’ll make sure to find a way (a rule-abiding way, of course)! And here are 4 fun little dates you can go in under the current Tier 2 restrictions…

Watch the world go by on the waterfront
There’s something lovely about being to just stop, sit, and watch the world go by, at least for a little while. And Liverpool’s waterfront offers a perfect spot for doing just that. Sit back and relax by one of the quirky pop-up cafes, listening to the sounds of the River Mersey and the surrounding hustle and bustle. If you really want to indulge, you could even treat yourself to a glass of gin while you’re marvelling at the magnificent surrounding architecture.

Immerse yourselves in Beatlemania
Ask someone to name something associated with Liverpool and you can guarantee they’re bound to say The Beatles. In fact, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a route through the heart of Liverpool that doesn’t stumble across a Beatles token somewhere on the way. Statues, museums, souvenirs, jellybean artwork (really!) – you name it. Delve into their history or treat yourself to some memorabilia in the shops and museums, and if you’re not from the same household, then you Tier 2 restrictions won’t stop you as you’ll find plenty of nods to the boys outside too.
Catch a ferry across the Mersey
While enjoying a sightseeing tour of Liverpool from the deck of the Mersey Ferry, you and your date will have a whole 50 minutes on board to get to know each other, all while taking in incredible views of the UNESCO World Heritage Waterfront and learning about the fascinating history of the river. Just make sure to have you gloves, hat and scarf handy – it can get chilly out there!

Indulge in some window-shopping
Nestled in the heart of the city and just a short walk from the waterfront, Liverpool ONE shopping centre boasts a whopping 170 shops, attractions, restaurants and bars. It’s home to a hustle and bustle and there’s a great buzz all year round, meaning it makes for a perfect day of window-shopping, and maybe even indulging in some retail therapy and a spot of really good grub.
