This post has been sponsored by a&o hostels, and my stay, food, and drinks were complimentary, but all words and opinions are my own.
Hostels are becoming more and more popular amongst travellers, and why shouldn’t they be? You can get super cheap accommodation and meet some great people along the way – all whilst experiencing a new city like a local! What’s not to love?
And if you don’t know where to stay when you’re in Edinburgh, I’ve got 5 reasons why a&o Hostel Edinburgh City is the perfect choice…

1. It’s situated in the perfect location
a&o Hostel Edinburgh City is bang in the middle of the action. Literally. You’ll have an abundance of attractions, restaurants and sights right on your doorstep. Instead of booking taxis and flagging down buses as I would in other cities, I found myself getting from A to B by wandering the beautiful cobbled streets instead. And isn’t that way better?!
It’s also just five minutes away from Waverley Station, and fifteen minutes away from the airport, so you’ll have no problem finding it if you’re making your way into Edinburgh via train or plane!
2. I slept like a baby in a beautifully clean room
We’ve all heard the horror stories. Hostels that are dirty, unkempt, and have beds that’d even give cavemen bad backs. But let me assure you: a&o Hostel Edinburgh City was definitely more of a fairy tale than a nightmare. It was spacious, had a beautiful clean bathroom, charging ports above the beds for ease, and the beds were utterly wonderful. Yes, I struggled to leave my duvet and pillow each morning!

3. The staff were beyond friendly
Everyone loves great customer service – and this a&o Hostel certainly provides it. The staff at Edinburgh City went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed at the hostel, and I never once found them without a smile on their face.
4. There’s a fab bar with great food and drink deals
Whether you’re looking for a chilled beer after a day of exploring, or wanting to get a wee bit tipsy with shots and cocktails, you can do it all right on site. Beneath the hostel, you’ll find Bar 50 – a fun and bright place offering discounted drinks for guests, shot roulette, a yummy menu, and a fun atmosphere. My go-tos? The chilli cheese nachos and cocktail pitchers. A winning combo if you ask me!

5. It’s incredibly affordable… Rooms start at just £16 a night!
Last but certainly not least, a great reason to consider a&o Hostel Edinburgh City is the fact that the price is pretty incredible! You can get one of their lovely rooms from just £16 a night, and if that’s not enough, you’ll get discounted food and drinks whilst you’re there – win, win! Combine that with the fact you’ll not have to pay for buses or taxis during your stay, and that they offer free walking tours, a&o makes the perfect budget-friendly option.
So there you have it – five reasons why a&o Hostel Edinburgh City is perfect for your stay in Edinburgh. What are you waiting for?!
